After One Century into Another　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　The History of TAMURAKOMA is one of Creation and Challenge

1894 Founder Komajiro TAMURA founded "Koudaya Tamura Shoten". (With a capital of 100 yen)
1898 Design Division was established in order to strengthen designing/planning capacity.
1900 For the first time in Japan, TAMURAKOMA ordered specified prints from England. (The gained enormous popularity as English prints utilizing the Japanese patterns)
1910 Exporting to China commenced.
1915 An Export Department was established, in order to strengthen its export operations. (Export of various processed cotton cloth saw continual growth)
1918 Tamurakoma Shoten Corporation was founded. (With a capital of 2 million yen)
1922 Export of processed cotton cloth boomed.
Sales routes were opened up Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.
1934 Taiyo Rayon Co., Ltd. was founded.
1939 Tamurakoma Baseball Team won second place at the inter-city baseball tournament.
1940 Tokyo Branch Office was established.
1943 The company was renamed to TAMURAKOMA & Co., Ltd.
1950 A baseball team named, "The Shochiku Robins", owned by Komajiro TAMURA Jr. won an acclaimed victory in the Central League (Nippon Professional Baseball).
1952 TAMURAKOMA began dealing in synthetic fiber materials.
1958 TAMURAKOMA was designated as a Japan-China Friendship Company.
1964 Computes were introduced with a view to streamlining operations.
1968 Synthetic fiber base establishment in Korea commenced.
1970 TAMURAKOMA began dealing in construction materials at the Machinery/Materials Department.
1974 A complete 5-working-day system was implemented.
1977 The first in-house newsletter, "TAMURAKOMA" was published.
1978 A Chinese Division was established.
1979 Sales proceeds exceeded 100 billion yen.
1981 TAMURAKOMA participated in Midori Kai at the "Kobe Portopia 81".
Also, the Employee Shareholder's Association was established.
1986

Offices were established in Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.
1987 TAMURAKOMA participated in the Midori Kai at "The International Garden and Greenery Exposition, Osaka".
1989 Capital was increased to 1 billion yen.
1990 The Head Office's new Company Building was constructed.
1992 The Tokyo Branch's new Company Building was constructed.
1993 Offices was established in Hong Kong and Qingdao.
Also, capital was increased to 1.24 billion yen.
1994 TAMURAKOMA celebrated the 100th Anniversary.
Tamurakoma & Co., (HK) LTD. was established.
1996 'Casual Friday' (coming to work in casual clothes) was commenced.
2001 Tamurakoma (Shanghai) Textile Co., Ltd. was established.
2001 The Tokyo Branch's building was extended and renamed to Tokyo Office.
2003 A Corporate Officer System was introduced.
2004 TAMURAKOMA celebrated the 110th anniversary.
2005 TAMURAKOMA was accredited with ISO9001 certification. (Home Fashion Department)
2006 Harajuku Office was established.
An office was established in Dalian.
2007 An office was established in Ho Chi Minh.
2009 TAMURAKOMA celebrated the 115th anniversary.
